Making history in the Chaleur region! On October 3, 2024, our community came together for Bathurst’s very first Take Back the Night march and public protest—joining a global movement dedicated to ending all forms of gender-based violence.
The powerful evening kicked off at the Bathurst Waterfront Promenade, where community members gathered armed with flashlights and noisemakers, ready to break the silence. Together, we marched through the streets of downtown Bathurst, reclaiming public spaces and demanding safety, respect, and justice for everyone.
The event concluded back at the Waterfront with snacks and a deeply moving candlelight vigil, creating a warm space of solidarity, remembrance, and hope.
Thank you to everyone who showed up, made noise, and stood with survivors. This inaugural march was a beautiful testament to the strength and unity of Bathurst, and it marks just the beginning of our continued collective action.
